The heart of our extracurricular life is our gymnasium. It is home to the
Wyneken boys' basketball teams (including our 1995
National championship squad), girls' basketball teams, wrestling club, and
girls' volleyball teams.
In addition to physical education classes, many other activities take place here. School
dances and banquets, as well as church functions call the gym home. Four mornings per
week, our entire school gathers for our opening devotions.
Our band uses the gymnasium stage as its
headquarters. Seasonal plays are also held there.
With construction, this gymnasium will be replaced. A new high-school
sized facility is planned for the northeast side of the campus. The south
part of the old gymnasium will serve as an expanded cafeteria. It is hoped
that this facility will continue to host plays, as the new gym features no
stage. Other than that, no definite plans for its usage have been made.
